Ingredients
  

Chicken and Filling

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts Skinless and boneless
  • 4 slices ham Smoked or deli ham works well
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese Can substitute with other cheeses

Breading

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 pieces eggs Beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Seasoning

  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Oil for Frying

  • vegetable or canola oil Choose a high-heat oil

Preparation

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
  • Prepare the Chicken: Take each chicken breast and gently pound it with a meat mallet until it’s about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Assemble the Filling: Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each flattened chicken breast.
  • Roll and Secure: Carefully roll up each chicken breast tightly, securing it with toothpicks if necessary.
  • Coat the Rolls: Dredge each chicken roll in flour, then dip them in beaten eggs before coating with breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken rolls until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Bake to Finish: Transfer the browned chicken rolls to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  • Serve: Remove toothpicks if used and serve with your favorite sauce or sides.

Notes

Pound evenly for consistent cooking. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
