A fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween celebrations, shaped like witch fingers and deliciously buttery.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Whole almonds or sliced almonds (for fingernails)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Mix in flavorings: Add the vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix until incorporated.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture.
  4. Shape the cookies: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll the dough into finger shapes.
  5. Add fingernails: Press an almond into the tip of each cookie.
  6. Bake: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on the edges.
  7. Cool and enjoy: Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for best results. Don’t overmix the dough.
