  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Chocolate chips (to fold into the dough)
  • Candy eyes (for decoration)
  • Red icing (to create a ‘blood’ effect)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Decorate cooled cookies with candy eyes and red icing for a spooky effect.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for the best texture. Substitute chocolate chips with your favorite mix-ins if desired.
