Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Orange and black sanding sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sanding sugar.
  7. Arrange cookies on ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until edges are golden.
  9. Cool on wire racks.
