Deliciously chocolatey Halloween Oreo Cookies that are easy to make and perfect for spooky celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 ⅓ cup all-purpose flour (166 grams)
  • ½ cup black cocoa powder (50 grams)
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt (or ½ tsp table salt)
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 6 oz unsalted butter (1.5 sticks, room temperature)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (100 grams)
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar (100 grams)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla paste
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 10-12 Halloween Oreos (coarsely chopped, plus more for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a medium bowl and set aside.
  2. Cream the softened butter in a large mixing bowl for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar, mixing for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the room temperature egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Mix in the dry ingredients gradually until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped Halloween Oreos.
  7. Chill the dough by scooping onto a baking sheet and refrigerating for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  9. Bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes for normal-sized or 11-15 minutes for extra-large cookies.
  10. Cool the cookies for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Ensure butter and egg are room temperature for best results. Do not overmix to avoid tough cookies.
