A spooky and fun dish perfect for your Halloween party, these creepy-looking stuffed crescent rolls are easy to make and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup pasta sauce (marinara), plus more for brushing
  • 2 tubes of crescent roll sheets
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, plus more for topping
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the finely chopped onions and bell peppers, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until tender.
  2. Brown the turkey: Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until it’s no longer pink. Season with garlic powder, seasoned salt, and dried oregano. Continue to cook until the turkey is fully browned.
  3. Add the sauce: Stir in the pasta sauce and remove the skillet from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly while you prepare the crescent dough.
  4. Preheat the oven: Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Mix butter and garlic: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder until well combined. Set aside.
  6. Roll out the dough: Unroll the two tubes of crescent roll dough and place them side by side. Cut each sheet into 3 strips lengthwise.
  7. Fill the rolls: For each crescent strip, place some shredded mozzarella down the center and top it with a spoonful of turkey filling. Bring the sides of the dough over the filling and pinch them to seal.
  8. Shape the intestines: Arrange the stuffed crescent rolls on the baking sheet, twisting them to form shapes that resemble intestines.
  9. Brush and bake: Brush the shapes with the garlic butter mixture. Bake for 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  10. Final touches: Take the rolls out of the oven and brush them lightly with additional pasta sauce. If you have leftover turkey mixture, arrange it around the rolls, sprinkle with extra mozzarella, and bake for another 5-7 minutes, until melted and bubbly.
  11. Serve: Let them sit for a minute before serving.

Notes

Don’t overcook the filling; ensure the turkey is just cooked through. Pinching the dough well ensures the filling doesn’t leak out during baking.
