Delicious homemade Gyoza that are satisfying and fun to cook. Perfect for gatherings with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a bowl, mix the flour and water thoroughly until they come together as a dough. Knead until smooth, about 5 minutes, then cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In another bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the rested dough until thin, about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles using a round cutter or a glass.
  4. Fill the Gyoza: Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
  5. Cook the Gyoza: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Arrange the gyoza in a single layer and fry until the bottoms are golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Steam to Finish: Carefully add a few tablespoons of water to the pan, cover, and let them steam for an additional 5-7 minutes or until cooked through.
  7. Serve: Enjoy your gyoza warm with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

Knead the dough thoroughly and don’t overfill the gyoza to avoid breakage. Freezing uncooked gyoza is possible for later use.
