Fun and festive cake pops that combine rich chocolate with playful Halloween decorations, perfect for parties and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients required by the cake mix (usually water, oil, and eggs)
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 ounces of candy melts (orange and black for Halloween)
  • Sprinkles, edible eyes, or other decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix package. Prepare a cake pan as directed, then mix the cake ingredients and pour the batter into the pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips, stirring until melted and smooth. Allow it to cool slightly, then refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
  3. Once the cake is completely cooled, crumble it into a large bowl. Combine the chilled chocolate ganache with the crumbled cake. Mix until well combined and forms a dough-like consistency.
  4. Scoop out small portions (about 1 tablespoon) of the cake mixture and roll them into balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to firm up.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy melts according to package instructions. Stir until smooth and free of lumps.
  6. Take a lollipop stick and dip the end into the melted candy. Insert it into a cake ball, then dip the entire truffle into the candy coating, ensuring it’s well covered. Allow excess to drip off, then place it back on the parchment sheet. Quickly add sprinkles or decorations before the coating hardens.
  7. Place the completed cake pops upright in a cake pop stand or a piece of Styrofoam to set completely.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing, do not overmix the cake, and chill the cake balls before dipping. Consider adding flavors like peppermint or orange for variety.
