A simple yet flavorful sauce that elevates any meal, perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter (salted)
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon dried thyme (just use a pinch)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a sauté pan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add the flour gradually and continuously stir for about 2-3 minutes until it turns a deep golden brown.
  3. Pour in the beef broth slowly, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Stir in the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme, then let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Taste the gravy and adjust seasoning if necessary. If too thick, whisk in more broth for desired consistency.

Notes

For a healthier option, use unsalted butter and low-sodium beef broth. For richer flavor, add soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce.
