A delightful air fryer whole roast chicken that’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, perfect for family dinners and weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 (4-5 lb) whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Check your air fryer size: Confirm that your whole chicken will fit comfortably in your air fryer.
  2. Prepare the seasoning: In a small bowl, combine sea salt, pepper, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Prepare the chicken: Ensure chicken is fully thawed and pat it dry with a paper towel.
  4. Oil it up: Drizzle avocado oil over the chicken, rubbing it across the skin.
  5. Season generously: Apply your seasoning rub all over the chicken evenly.
  6. Preheat the air fryer: If applicable, set it to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Place the chicken breast side down in the air fryer and cook at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
  8. Flip the chicken: Carefully flip using tongs and lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) for another 30-40 minutes.
  9. Check the internal temperature: It should reach 165°F (74°C).
  10. Rest and serve: Allow chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
